Default Proud new Cub Cadet 149 owner

My brother bought a cabin in Minnesota a couple of years ago, it is a log cabin built in 1936. In the separate garage was a Cub Cadet 149 with a 50 inch mower deck that the previous owner used to mow the lawn. Also attached was a Trac-Vac model 460. The previous owner took a fair amount of notes including the original owers name and what he paid for it. I also have a 3 pack of blades for it and a few other random parts. Lucky for me, my brother had no interest in it and wanted it out of his garage. I just brought it home today and am happy to say they (Tractor motor and Trac Vac motor) are up and running.

I did have to remove the mower deck as it was 1/2" too wide for the trailer I hauled it with.

I have found a fair amount of information on it. (I can't believe that it is hydro-static!) Is there anything anyone else can tell me? What do you think it is worth? Have you ever used a Trac Vac? Is it worth anything? I live in a suburb of Minneapolis and don't have use for it.

Thanks all!

If you have fall cleanup leaves to remove, a TracVac works great. I have a tow behind TracVac. I collect leaves and grass for a compost pile. Works great. When a stick gets sideways, the hose will clog. Be sure to shutdown the both engines before clearing the clog with your hand.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
