Kubota D640 help
I recently picked up a 1772 cub cadet. all the wiring and cables were disconnected from engine. I have seemed to figure out where everything connects except the engine wont run. I have no clue how long it sat prior to me purchasing it the guy told me last April was the last time it ran because it threw a drive shaft out. well anyways I have put a new fuel lift pump on it and starter but the engine wont start, it just cranks. I took off the injectors lines from the injection pump and no fuel comes out while cranking. a bubble of fuel may come out of each and that's about it. yes the fuel shutoff lever is on position. not sure what to do next besides take injection pump off for a rebuild??

Pull the line from the electric pump to the filter and see if you have a good flow, if not you probably have a blockage between the tank and the electric pump. If that is the case plan on removing the tank, cleaning it and replacing ALL of the fuel lines.

Sam is correct.
Don't jump to the injection pump just because it won't run. They seldom fail on those engines. Two most common no start issues with the Kubotas is: fuel supply (bad/plugged lines, bad lift pump) and glow plugs not working correctly. |

I removed injector supply lines and cleaned out with brake kleen the injection pump is definitely getting fuel supply. it does seem to be cranking very slow compaired to a video I watched posted on another thread. I am basically trying to run the engine by itself I am using jumper cables to a 1150cc amp battery. maybe that's my issue. the wiring is so messed up I just want to confirm the engine runs prior to spending the time to rewire everything. glow plugs are working when jumper wire is used.

You do have the fuel shut-off lever on the pump in the "on" position correct?

yes I have the lever towards the injector lines I believe that's the on position. I know people don't like to hear this but it doesn't even attempt to start wit a shot of ether. not even a hic up. compression sounds good, I just bought a compression tester today to check tomorrow.

If you verified you got fuel to the injection pump and the return lines are not blocked you could check to see if the delivery valves are stuck.
On the top of the injection pump unscrew the 3 caps that the injector lines screw on too. Under the cap will be a spring, the actual delivery valve, and a flat washer. With those items removed from the pump, fuel should flow thru the pump and run out the top with the key in the "on" position and the fuel "lift" pump running.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
