Default Fiber friction washer for the mower deck spindle size?

I would like to find the fiber friction washer used on the mower decks for the 149. I would like to find a cheaper alternative if possible. does anyone know the size of this fiber washer? and what it's made of? Thanks!

So I went to the Home Depot and the "fiber washers" they had wouldn't work. I've looked online and can't find what I want for less than 12-23 dollars and I'm going to need at least 3 of them, so it would be very expensive for me to buy. Anyone have some ideas of what to use to maybe make the washer?

It would be nice to know what Mower Deck model you are working on.

sorry about that. It's a 38" (from outside blade to other side outside blade) U-1111. I think maybe the other bigger deck i have may also have the fiber washers.

According to the Cub Cadet Parts lookup site, you need: 959-3486 Friction Disc.

thanks for that part number. It looks like the price of that is going to be more than I can afford. I was hoping that someone would know where I could get a fiber type washer that's similar for much less money. I've looked around online but can't seem to find the right material...

You CAN use a simple 3/4" steel flat washer if you like.

I may have to do that if I can't find some material to make the fiber friction washers with or find the washer for under a couple of dollars. I think I'm going to need more than a few to get both decks working right. I was hoping someone in the forum might know the type of material or where to find a similar washer. But I do thank you for your suggestion. It may be the route I have to take.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
