Default 1572 or 1772 diesel please help identify

Picked this up today at an auction.
Started right up with a jump -- needs new battery though.
I was loading it on the trailer, it ran out of fuel before I got it loaded up.
Had to have loader tractor finish pushing it on trailer.
Can anybody tell me how I can tell the difference -- is this a 1572 or 1772?
I know it is not an 882 because it has the 2 brake pedals on the right side.

Default 1572 or 1772

The 1572 has a Kubota DB600 engine and the 1772 has a DB640. If you can find the engine data plate it should tell which engine yours is.

Looks to be a Super to me by the long tunnel cover.

That is a SGT so it is either a 1572 or a 1772. I see a serial tag. Here is the model number breakdown on the tag.

1572 was made in 1987 & 1988 with a Kubota D600-B.
1987=147-710-100
1988=148-710-100

1772 made in 1989 only with a D640-B.
149-711-100

Default Identified. It is a 1772.

Thanks for the info Oak.

It does have a glow plug light, and model number is 149-711-100

I am considering a re-paint. Should I go with non factory red or make it back to the yellow / white original color?

Default Guess I made color choice commitment on re-paint

I picked up some red side panels today.
Looks like red / black frame wins.
I will probably use the 1772 blue/black hood decals.

Talking

I'd make it the original color.
One does not see yellow/white diesels around here often.
Folks must think if they are plowing, they gotta be red!
That much red in one place is hard on the eyes, kinda like green, Ya know!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
