1772 Restoration Project
So it begins.....
My son (14) stripped out his second drive shaft coupler this weekend. Along with some other issues and not to mention a pandemic he decided it was a good time to restore his baby. He is going to need some help along the way, so thanks in advance. You guys rock! Here is wishing him luck and enjoyment. A journey of a thousand miles starts with the first bolt. Proud Papa Cub |

ATA boy. Have patience, take your time, research the issues giving you pause, and fix the issue correctly, will take you a long way to a successful completion.

Hey guys,
I've been working on painting my 1772. I was trying to put new axle seals on and replace the axle housing that has a chip in it. I am having trouble getting them off. I've seen that some people can just pull the whole thing off but mine won't budge. thx everyone for the help. Ben |

You need to remove the rear cover and take the clips off the ends of the axles in the differential, then the axles and tubes will slide off.

I call them E-Clips/C-Clips not sure if that's their technical name? It's part #8 that you need to pull out, then the axles will slide right out. This link will show you the break down of the axles. https://www.partstree.com/models/177...le-carrier-46/

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
