Default New from SW Missouri

Hi Friends:

I'm Dave, a 67 year old "Newbie" from SW Missouri, just East of Branson to be exact.

I am sort of retired, I do manage a Gift Shop at a Branson theatre during the spring/summer/fall months, and have the winter off. That winter amounts to Dec, Jan and Feb. so I have time to piddle with projects.

I have sort of restored a full size Cub, four Troy-Bilt tillers, and want to take on a Cub Cadet. I got the Cub up and running good, other than it needed an overhaul and passed it on.

I'd like to have a Cub Cadet probably a 149 Model, and do a nice job on it. I'm looking around to find someone to do sandblasting and take it down to clean bare metal. I have a 149 in mind, but will wait until after the Holidays to get knee deep in it.

Thats about enough from here, thanks for letting me in the group, and I will look forward to this forum. I know there are lots of folks out there than are willing to help.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone in SW Missouri too. Hear about what you have on hand and what your porjects are.

All the best, and Merry Christmas from Dave (Amateur Radio Call W0DLR) from Kirbyville, Mo.

Dave,
Welcome. I'm from southeast Missouri myself, about 60 miles south of St. Louis. Every year, the last weekend in September, there is a Cub and Cub Cadet only event in Fredericktown, Missouri, called Cubarama. If you haven't heard of it or been, it's a great event.

As for you question, I can't answer that one, but we can give you pointers and advice (well some can, maybe I can't).

Again, welcome.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
