Greetings from SE MI
Hello all.
I'm glad I found this site- I've found other forums but I tend to favor the simplistic layout of this one and the amount of traffic it receives. A quick bit of history--- My dad has had a 125 for probably 30 years that he bought used from someone that rolled it. Dad put a 105 dash on it and the steering wheel is still bent. I've blown it up 3 times (3 times? I think something like that) and have rusted out at least 2 mower decks, but it's been rebuilt 4 times and still runs like a champ. (my avatar pic is me on said 125 at 18 months. I'm now 27) About 12 years ago dad found a 782 and the motor is starting to go on that one. It needed a fuel pump and a starter, but it works good. Something just never really spoke to me with that one; the twin motor didn't sound like a CC, the leaning forward hood, hole in the hood for the fuel, etc didn't appeal to me as much as the 125. Don't get me wrong, the 782 is a great machine, but it's just not the same as the 125. Fast forward to last month. After moving out and buying a house, I had a CC purchase in the back of my mind. Push mowing my entire yard took an hour at least. My driveway is approx 60 feet long. I found a decent deal on a slightly used 147 from a guy that gernaded the front PTO and didn't know how to fix it. Long story short; it is back in working condition, and I love using it. I love every minute of seat time I can get. I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can from this forum, and contributing what I've learned to help others. Thanks for having me.

Awesome history! Your 147 is a beast of a machine. I think you'll like it almost as much as the beloved 125. My son loves his 125 but treats it a bit better then you did your dads 125. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
