Redoing the cub's home

I moved here in August 2012. The garage had unpainted OSB a huge crack/broken chunk in the middle of the floor, only a 30 amp service, and no insulation or ceiling framing.

Since moving in I painted, ran a 60 amp service, framed and insulated the ceiling, started the ceiling finish, repaired the floor, installed a 4000 watt cadet heater, and accumulated a lot of stuff. I have haphazardly added shelves and cabinets, stuck things where I thought was a good place and generally just gave up on the garage last year. So at 18 months after moving in and using the garage I am going to make some changes. Here is my list

Build a wooden Bench with the yellow drawer units built in to extend my cman bench the full width of the garage

Install a line voltage thermostat for my heater and Mount the heater to the ceiling.

Install all of the cabinets on the back wall after they are painted safety blue (sort of matches my tool box)

Take down all of the shelves and install them in a location yet to be determined.

Install a loft over the bench area

Install pegboard between benches and cabinets (full width of garage) (after xmas)

Purge any items I can do without to the basement or craigslist (by end of Jan)

Epoxy the floor (spring)

Finish installing fiberglass board on the ceiling (by end of Jan)

I'll be back at it on Monday and try to get some of the ceiling finished and wire the outlet for my compressor. Also going to surface mount some outlets along the new bench.

Use a 3/4 nap roller. It'll save you a lot of time.

I can't wait til it is done also. This has really been a budget build from the start. Aside from Redoing all of the electric in the garage everything has pretty much been ultra cheap CL funds and scavenged/donated stuff.

The shelves were all there already. I just moved them around
The craftsman bench was $50 on CL
The wood for the new bench was left overs from a project at work
The cabinets over the bench were free - $15 worth of paint from an office that was shut down,
I bought about $150 worth of Lumber and $100 in insulation for the ceiling
The fibreglass board I am putting on the ceiling I found by a dumpster
The paint on the walls was free left over from a project at work
The concrete for the patch was left over bags from a project at work
The heater was $70 on CL

I should show off my radio set up.

Its a computer power supply powering a Sony head unit for a car. I have 2 6-1/2" speakers mounted flush in the wall on the side with the bench. It has an auxiliary input for ipod phone tablet ect.

If your going to epoxy your floor don't buy the garbage the box stores sell. I did mine 5 years ago and used a product from a company called Wolverine Epoxy Coatings. The wifey and I did it on a long weekend and I don't have one spot that lifted. It will brighten up the place the way the light reflects off the floor but it will also show all the imperfections in the concrete. I believe it was a 3 part system and I added the color chips and UV protection. The one thing to look at when shopping for coatings is the "solid content". The crap the box stores sell is mostly stuff that will evaporate when drying leaving you a thin coating. I think the stuff I used gave me a 28 mill thickness. And don't forget to use the anti-slip stuff on top because with out it this stuff is like walking on ice. Here is a link that has some good info.
