Default 982 just died

I was mowing with my 982 the other day and all was well, as I just finished and started to load it onto my trailer. Then I turned down the throttle to idle down and run for a moment. The engine stopped as if it was out of gasoline, but it wasn't. Tried to restart it and all I heard was a click sound from under the seat, presumably from the solenoid. Battery is good in it. I engaged the deck and turned the key, which gave me a click sound at the electric PTO. I did not expect it to start with the PTO engaged, just listening for sounds. I have a Mag 18 under the hood. Thinking it is the solenoid or something electrical. Any hints?

Thanks fellas....

Loose or dirty connection somewhere. Likely at the battery, or the solenoid.

But the Mag 18 doesn't need battery power to run..... so, likely two issues.

Thanks Jonathan!! I had a bad terminal on the positive side and the battery needed replacing. Odd, it let me mow two yards then puttered and died like it was out of fuel. New battery and now it starts without any choke.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
