Previous Owner jerry rigging (best of the best!)
John Hall gave the idea on my two-fer thread, so credit to him. We should have a thread of all the crazy things we've uncovered from previous owner jerry rigging (and jury rigging!). I'll go first.
This is the driveshaft from an 1862 I picked up recently. I got the engine running, and noticed a vibration from the drive line area. I pulled the tunnel cover off and found the driveshaft hanging on to the input shaft of the charge pump by a thread! There is a hose clamp around the shaft, holding pressure against a big washer which I guess is supposed to hold the CV joint in place so it reaches the input shaft? I don't know. But this picture was taken after I removed about a half of a mile length of electrical tape that was wrapped around it to further reinforce this stupidity! That hydro plumbing is no laughing matter either...  20180807_105415621_iOS.jpg

I recently had the air filter fall off a Kohler engine,, I thought the screws fell out,,
Well, the 8-32 screws fell out, they had been JB-Weld installed in the carb holes, I used a 10-32 tap, the epoxy fell right out, perfect threads, I put the correct 10-32 screws in,,, If the PO had used the correct screws, the air cleaner would have been installed with 10% of the effort of gluing in the wrong screws,,,
