Default Tires??
Hi. I'm new to garden tractor pulling. We are using a 72 for bone stock class and we had our first pull yesterday and grandson got 5th out of 7 his first time ever pulling at 6yrs old so we're pretty excited. So with our tractor cherry broke we have more of an idea on what we need to do and tires is at the top of the list. The rules say no bar type tires. What is a good tire to use? And where to get them?

I'd use the Firestone's but I'd have them hardened, Vogel makes a VMTT that I'm told works well

never heard of hardening them.how and why is that done?I was told to use a 2 ply tire so it will wrinkle but if you harden them they won't wrinkle?Forgive my ignorance on this,just trying to understand

I'm not sure but I assume just the tread is hardened so the lugs keep a sharp edge and dont wear as fast.

the whole tire is hardened, the edge on the lug lasts longer. the only tires that you don't want to harden are the Nichols Edge tires. if you want to "break in " the side walls after hardening leave the valve stems out and drive around.

most L&G tires are 2 plys, Nichols tire cutting in Lore City Ohio hardens tires.
