Default Power!

Hi there again, last weekend I ran my cub 100 for its first time on dirt. I tried 3rd gear and that was not going to happen ( not enough power). 2nd got down the track but would die out at the end. So I ran first but it seems to slow to me. I know there is a lot of ways to get more power out of it but I don't know what to do. Do you guys have and ideas. It is just a stock motor running higher RPMS than stock.

4000rpm mill the head and port and polish it. My k301 seems to do great. But doesn't like 3rd so much but it will do it

Did it quick in first gear, speed is not always the answer, but distance is in pulling.

When it got down to the very last inches it died down and almost died. If I had more hp I could have got further. On cement I have to run 1st and I would do a lot better in 2nd but I don't have the power for that.

When you say Higher rpm's than stock how many are we talking for RPM'S unless you have a steel flywheel in that motor I WOULDN'T RUN IT OVER 4000 RPM'S AT ALL FOR SAFETY REASONS.

Does your 100 have the 16 tooth or 19 tooth second gear?
70/100s had both gears....the later ones had the 19 tooth gear.

23 or 26 inch tall tires?

When was the engine last rebuilt?

Regular or high test fuel?

What will the class rules allow you to do to the engine?

The RPMS are nothing over 4000 RPMS. I still have the stock flywheel in it. i have heard if i put a steel flywheel in it, it will not charge the battery? is that true?

It is a 1964 100 that i run my 23 inch bar tires on. I am not sure if it has 16 or 19 tooth second gear. I bought the tractor stock 2 years ago. i have not done anything to the motor. I run regular fuel in it with a little added sea foam because the gas is a little old.

if you use a starter gen you can still charge the battery. I had a stocker years ago with a ring gear starter and a steel wheel. I would just charge the L&G size battery before the pull and I'd be good all day. you could just regear the trans. there's sets available from 13 on up.

advance you ignition timing about 4 degree's. that wakes them up a little.
