I really like the looks of the Firestones too. Maybe on my next project. Keep up the good work Jay.

Thanks Doc! The Firestone's were hard to justify... but I really like them!

That's all that really matters, is that you like them. This is your tractor. Build it the way "you always wanted." Just like the title says!

"Firestone's were hard to justify". Well Jay, you only live once, and tomorrow may never come, so live for today. Hey, it's your dream tractor, make it as big and expensive as you want.
Plumbing looks good from here. Keep at it my friend.

Hey Jay, it is looking good. Fitting things up and checking everything out as you go is the best way to build it. I must have assembled my project and tore it down a dozen times it seemed to get things all fitted up and working like I wanted before I finally tore it down and did final paint and assembly. In the end it was all worth it as I have now mowed with it for almost two seasons with only a couple of small minor issues. When you are done with it and start using it you will smile every time you start it up. Keep up the good work and before you know it it will be done. I have around $4,000.00 in my Super since I bought the Haban deck but when I look at what $4000.00 will buy today I have to laugh.

Thanks Tom! I tend to agree... fit and check over and over.. build it like you want it and build it so you don't have to go back and do it again! I'll have a good bit in it... but what I have in it won't be anything compared to what a comparable machine new would cost.. but wait.. you can't buy anything built like these old machines anymore!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
