Default PICTURES of my 1650

hi all,

I wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcome. I finally got some pictures for you.

I look forward to any feedback, comments about my purchase. It's my first rider.

The gas cap gauge is melted. So no way of reading the level of fuel in the tank. Is this replaceable?

Here is the hitch system for the mower deck. I cant say I feel good about the pulley system and think it needs some work . The adjustable tension rod is not in the best condition and the pullies themselves are not square. I am guessing this could cause unneeded stress on the belt? Is it something hard to fix?

Other areas of issues: I drove a small distance down the street. I tried full speed and she started to sputter. I lowered the lever slightly to a lower speed and she started to run smoothly again. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Thanks,
Nathan(a new happy cub rider owner)

I own two 1450 pretty much the same tractor, you should check the driveshaft rag joints where it connects to the trans and the engine and the engine iso mounts i had to replace them on both of mine i put urethane ones in one of them and im not real crazy bout them im going to use rubber ones in the other tractor, and check the bolts that hold the mounting rails to the engine they come loose also

WOW thanks Wild Bill! Looks like I could have some work ahead of me.

The deck is the 44 inch model.

No manuals yet but just won an ebay auction with service manual, operators manual, and parts manual. All on a CD.

The 44" deck for use with the 1650, is called a 44A. So you do have the correct mule drive (angled brackets to direct the belt to the offset center pulley)

Use you manual CD wisely. Start at the beginning, and work your way from the front of the tractor to the back, and top to bottom. The correct adjustments-cleaning-repairing-replacing, etc will be needed everywhere I'm sure...your tractor has been used and abused for at least 34 years.

I appreciate the help wild Bill and tips of what I can do to put some new life to my tractor. I am currently waiting for nicer weather. Currently raining for 36 hours now.

Nathan good looking 1650 you've got there. Does it smoke bad? I see the black spot on that fine looking front blade and had me wondering how bad it smokes.

Awesome 1650!!! Sorry to intrude in this thread, but Wild bill: why do you say that the solid mounts r only for pullers? I agree that the machine shakes more, but will it hurt anything more so than a narrow frame tractor will?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
