I understood 984 was the code for rear PTO and 3 point/no front hydraulics.

We're missing a code for the (3) possible options excluding plain unless rear pto/3 point could only be had with front hydraulics.

Edit: when I was digging into this a year ago, Oak also came to the same conclusion:
A 982 is a plain super with no options.
A 984 will have the rear PTO and Cat 0 hitch
A 986 will have front remotes, rear PTO & Cat 0 hitch

It should have the a hole in the tunnel cover for the PTO switch like this as all 1914's came with an Onan B48G, front remotes, rear PTO & cat 0.

That's sweet! How many do you think were built? I know this is a rare number, but without the hood or year one would easily think it's a Y/W 982 (like my 984). I wonder why they moved the pto switch to the tunnel? I thought that was from the dealer repowering this one...

I wasn't going to argue for the price. I'm tight on space for CCs, and this one isn't in great shape (KT17, 17XX hours on the chassis, 44C deck) so it might go down the road and donate the front hydraulics to my 982 (4).

I never did find out how many were built or why the switch is on the tunnel cover.

I thought for sure the tunnel cover switch was from the engine swap this one had. It does have the sw on the RHS for the rear pto (I've heard of pto-less tractors coming with that, which seems suspect) and a LHS one in the normal spot (which could be for the front PTO due to the engine swap).

I'll know for sure once my carb delivery comes tonight. Walbro carb cleaned up good but needs a bowl, bowl gasket. Together those cost more than a china carb, so for now it'll rock a china carb. I'm curious to see if the choke is the right way.

If the price was right. I'd keep it for sure then; otherwise, it's probably going down the road and isn't worth it.

Hate to get rid of a "rare" one, but this one has been heavily modified lol.

It doesn't look too bad. Finding an appropriate Onan to replace the Kohler might prove to be difficult.

I picked up 3 Onan B48G's on here just to have for my Onan powered machines. I like the Onan engine even though they are pretty hard on the wallet to rebuild.

I like the OL20 in my 982, it starts easy. Seems I'm adjusting the carb once a year tho, and like you said, they aren't cheap to get parts for. Tons of power though.
