Default How many thought of this?

not actually a tool, but a fastener.

Yesterday while I was looking for a couple washers that needed to have a 1/8 hole and a fairly wide one.

Just as I was getting ready to drive 8 mile to get some My friend stopped, I ask him if he wanted to go for a ride to get some, " I needed 4 of them.

The hardware charges 3¢ a piece.

He said if it was hidden why not make some ? I ask from what? he said pennies, so as not to deface govt. currency I drilled the tails side.

so for 4¢ I saved 12¢ plus gas.

Default Pennies from Heaven

Great Idea. I hardly ever throw anything away. I have a huge junk pile. I am always finding what I need without having to drive to town for parts.

Yes but after looking for something you know you have for an hour, and can't find it , I get kinda disturbed.

By the way I found those regular washers in a bag in the other shed tonight.

I knew I had them.

Good Idea Jim H.

I never throw anything away either, but it seem like every time I go to do something I have to make a trip to town first (Most disturbing).

Been doing that for years Jim. I am a mobile auto glass tech and my coworkers call me McGuyver. :biggrin2.gif: I have put a lot of pennies and nickles inside of car doors. I am not leaving a job site for something as simple as a washer!

Good idea sharing it with us, I wouldn't have thought to give out that tip!

Plumbers also use pennies to level toilets prior to chaulking or grouting.

Hey Jim H.
Thaks for giving us your two cents worth.
Twice.
I can agree with the time theory.
The hardware store is only three miles away and often I weigh the amount of time against a quick trip.
And the bright side?
I always find the things I was looking for shortly after getting back.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
