I have the snow thrower and the 50A deck. Working on the rear hydro and adding a tiller to the bunch. There's so many things to look up but the previous owner was a good one and has most everything listed out as to what he did/repaired. Best starting point I think would depend on the guy you're buying it from.
My dad and I both have 1650 project tractors that won't take much to have complete. Our only quietlines, I do want to see the different between that and the KT17/M18 twins.

I've decided to buy the first "good deal" machine I can buy. Preferably 14hp but any 129/149/169 or 1250-1650.

I saw a very good condition 1450 on ******** Marketplace this morning with deck and plow for $200. It was listed an hour and already pending. That stung!

That's a steal of a deal. Wish I had room for more of them!

Deciding which CC garden tractor to get? Sounds like you have one of those good problems. Have fun with it.

Anything with a single cylinder is gonna vibrate and shake, 82 series or otherwise. A flat twin or the Kubota inline triple are much smoother in the 82 series, with the 782d being the cream of the crop with its fuel sipping diesel engine. But that is a CCC built machine, not IH. I had a 149 for years, loved it, but found the 82 series just that much better and they are not really any larger than the 149. Wider hood, yes, but same basic frame length and fender pan.

Will a 149 grill/headlight assembly fit a 1450/1650?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
