Default Help, 2016 LT50 stalls

I bought a used LT50. It has 120 hours on it. When I got it it was surging. Went through the typical tune up routine. New fuel, fuel filter, plugs, cleaned the carb and changes the oil. That did not fix the surging so I replaced the carb with a Kohler OEM carb. The engine now runs well. When I idle down too quickly, I will get the occasional backfire. My problem now is when I start cutting the mower will run for a few minutes then die. I have to shut the key off wait a moment and start the mower again. When I do start it it cranks a bit before it turns over. Then I can cut for a few more minutes and it will stall out again. The cycle repeats. I have not noticed it stalling without the PTO engaged but some further experimenting needs to be done to rule that out.

Dose anyone have any ideas where to start?

First, welcome to OCC.......

Sounds like your Carb is set too lean. Adjust it to a richer setting.

Surging is usually lack of fuel, when you remove the line from the CARB, does sufficient fuel flow from the line? it should, if not investigate the reason.
Possibly a clogged tank, or plugged screen in the tank?
You are describing a lack of fuel condition.
Does it have a fuel pump? ( I'm not familiar with an LT50)

I don't understand you saying it "cranks a bit before it turns over"??

"Cranking" is the process of the starter turning the engine over and then the engine starts and runs under its own power, Ideally.

Cranking can be done with a rope, hand crank, or starter motor, depending on the application.

Is the starter turning over but not rotating the engine?? if so, then you prolly have an over running clutch problem with the starter pinion, or the
starter pinion is not engaging the flywheel, ( they tend to get dry of lube on the shaft where the pinion slides.

Oh, backfiring is also an indication of a lean condition.
If you have a main jet adjustment
it needs to be enrichened a 1/2 turn.
( most newer engines do not provide main jet adjustment for environmental reasons)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
