Default 1440 leaking oil

my friend bought a 1440 from me a few years ago, been mowing with it no problems. it started leaking oil last year. replaced oil pressure switch, and it was good for awhile. then it started pouring again that the end of the summer.
took it off, cleaned it up, and put new seals on both sides (pto and flywheel) of the thing. he mowed one time and when he shut it down it puked oil out again. looks like it may be coming from the top of the motor, but can't see from where for sure. fins are all clean. would the pvc baffle up top overflow maybe? there was a little oil in the air cleaner housing.

Maybe the dip stick tube grommet. I had to replace the one in my 1641.

If it is coming from the top.. Valve cover gasket, breather tube.. Yes a clogged breather could cause a leak to happen. Usually that would cause a seal to leak over a gasket. I would pull the engine, Clean it up, Run it on the bench.

I would second that.

it was pulled and pressure washed when we did the seals, so its still pretty clean other than the fresh oil. didn't look like the dipstick tube seal was leaking. I am going to pull the breather setup and look at that. thanks.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
