Default Original clutch

Can the clutch on an original be adjusted? I just got an original out of my junk yard running that has set for years but the clutch acts like it needs to be adjusted. I don't know too much about the o's.

The engagement point can be adjusted pretty much just like the other IH gear drives. But if its slipping it likely needs rebuilt. No adjustment for that

Thank you for the manual link. Now I have a little better understanding of what I'm looking at. The clutch does not slip it just acts like it's not releasing enough to get in gear. It shifts very hard and grinds some. I got it better than it was but still not good. Maybe its time for a new clutch.

I lucked out today on a parts tractor today that may have a good clutch. I'll tear into it when I get time. Its mostly complete has an oil bath air filter and a set of weights for $100. Between 2 maybe I can make 1

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
