Default 4 bottom plow

I was wondering what people thought about pulling a 4 bottom plow using 10'' plows. I have an itch to make something different and big that I can use. I want ideas on what I need to do to a tractor to pull this plow. It doesn't matter to me if I have to go articulated with 4 or 8 or 12 wheels or even if I need to drop a v8 on it. What are the thoughts in the group. Must be on a garden tractor not a big farm tractor.

4-10 inch bottom plows

First question is How big is your billfold?

The tractor will need to weigh 4500 to 6000 pounds (leaning towards the heavy side).

Horse power will need to be at least 65 hp.

Leaning towards 4 wheel drive.

Best thing is to buy a 60 to 80 horse power tractor.

Merk thanks but no thanks. The whole idea is to do this with garden tractor sized equipment. It's more of a trying to go 1 bigger than the next guy. I know people have 2 and some have 3 bottoms but I have not seen anybody try 4. And I don't like being told I can't do something. Last time that happened I successfully did what I was told I couldn't do.

here you go. check out the video of one of my youtube subscriptions. the Allis that is pulling this, is kind of more or less a compact tractor. bigger and heavier than a super i know that. you may wanna try and find some smaller David Bradly 8" plows...and arrange them in a way so they take a 6" cut each, overlapping 2". that way, its easier to pull because i bet you, a cub cadet is NO where near heavy enough to yank 4 bottoms at 40" through the ground 4-6" deep. no way.

Nice video, BUT.....I didn't see this plow in action. I am skeptical that a 20 HP tractor will pull 4 - 8" bottoms at 6" deep.

I doubt the plow has never been in the soil as it is set up. By looking at where the 3 point arms connect to the plow-the right pin on the plow should be lower than the left pin. I've never seem a working plow (big or little) that didn't have offset pins. It may pull the plow in sand. Rear tires are too wide to fit in the furrow. The 720 is not a garden tractor. It is a small utility tractor.

It looks like the plow could be set up so the tractor is on the top of the land....right wheels not in the furrow. The plow in the video is not set up for a land hitch.

Simplicity/Allis Chalmers 720s had a 3 speed trans connected to a hydrostatic pump.

I rarely get to plow in the soil that is in the 3 bottom video. Looks like the 3 bottom plow is only going 3-4 inches deep. He is pulling the plow in low range.

As I posted in other plow builds the 420-430 John Deeres have a 2 rear end with a locking differential.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
