Talking New chick from Indiana

Hi I'm new here. From southern Indiana. My father has collected Cubs for as long as I can remember, and has passed the tradition on to me. I have 6 of my own, and my dad has 6 of his own. I have alot of work ahead of me with most of these Cubs, found most at an auction, and they definitely have seen better days.

This is my 122. I'm having some issues right now with it. It will crank but not start. It has a new coil, condenser, points, battery, plug and coil wire. plug and points are not getting spark though. I'm at a loss here.

Welcome to OCC. Are you getting 12v to the coil when the key is on?

Sometimes you need to "deglaze" new points. However, first, Buy a cheap 12 volt test light and test for positive at positive post of coil during start. If present, next step is, While starting, probe negative side of coil while starting, test light should flash. If it stays on constant, points aren't closing properly, if light is not on at all, coil is open or points aren't opening properly and coil needs to be replaced/points adjusted. Let us know your findings.

Btw how did you set points? Need to use "static timing" method and not just gap them.

Glad to have you. As mentioned, there is a wealth of knowledge here, and some pretty good folks. Well, the majority anyway.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
