Default Slow blade bad cut

My 42 inch deck has two different size pulleys. The larger pulley doesnt cut grass well and the tensioner is tight tight. I think i need another three inch pulley, or maybe longer belt. Does anyone know the correct size pulley?

Some 42" decks had the two different pulleys.
Check here if yours is similar.

Its a 42
I only see two of the same part number for the 42 in decks, it has bgrs with races, not water pump style.
I have to check around for the part number.

I measured the pulleys on 38 and a 48 decks. The 38 has 3 1/8 od pulleys and the 48 is about 4. The 48 has the shields on so it's hard to get an accurate measurement but it's definitely larger. The parts book shows the same pulley for the 38 and 42 decks, 481 095 R92. Putting the smaller pulley on would also help with the tensioner being to tight.

Isn't it supposed to have a smaller pulley on the discharge end to help the deck work more efficiently?

Im goin to go with both three in. pulleys. The belt will fit better and the blade will spin faster. I will post results but right now the inside blade leaves a bad 9 to 10 swat.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
