Default Ammeter on a 100

Hey all-

The loaded 100 I picked up a few weeks ago looks like it had an ammeter at one time. I have a spare one from a Quiet Line so I decided to add it on, but I need help lacing it in with the push button start ignition. I know it really shouldn't be any more complicated than what I see in the service manual wiring diagrams, but I want to make sure I do it correctly. There is a PO-added red wire from the BAT terminal on the VR that runs to where the ammeter is mounted, then only a black wire that runs up near the positive terminal of the battery. I don't see the 'junction block' that the later edition Blue Ribbon Service Manual refers to; is there a way to trace the BAT wire in the factory harness and make it part of the wiring for the ammeter, or should I just go with the PO-added wire?

Where do I go from the + side of the ammeter? Do I run a lead to the terminal of the key switch that is energized when the key is turned on? All of my other ammeters have two wire leads on the + (?) side of the ammeter I think... Anyway, this should be straightforward, just want to make sure I don't miss anything that is noticeably different with the setup on the 100's push-button start system.

I think I just found most of my answers in the tech section. Thank you, Mr. Bedell!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
