I myself lost interest at about 15 years old... cars, girls, and sports took over!
BUT!! I am so proud that my father had the foresight to put my first Cub away for later.... I still have it along with many other Cubs now... I am soo glad he didn't sell off my Original and a lot of other things.. By 18 or 19 I figured out that I could take those Cub Cadets and make money to pay for my car, insurance, school and gas! I plowed and cultivated gardens for people, mowed grass, leveled driveways and hauled firewood... Those cubs taught me about quality machines that could do an honest days work and give back more than they cost to run. I am fighting the same battle with my 15 year old now... so I feel your pain! I am 45 now and love my cubs more and more every day!!

It's not for everyone, but during the teen years, interests change like the weather.
If you have room to store it, do it. Can't hurt to hang on to it for a few years. Don't know if you have room, but storing it in a shed would pay dividends in a couple years when (perhaps) his interests come back around. If they don't, you won't have any trouble selling that model and equipment around the KCMO area. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
