I have never used these but seems like just adding a rubber bar so they should be similar to but maybe not as aggressive as ags. I have said it before testing side by side in snow, dirt, mud and ice I have found turfs with chains out preformed ags every time. Tested on diesel supers both tires filled and with wheel weights.

I purchased a very similar set in about 1995. By picture, mine are identical. Used on 1863 for snow plowing/blowing only. Driveway paved and sealed, more or less level about 200' long. I use cast iron wheel weights, rear weight and if necessary wife standing on rear weight. On ice trying to push wet snow, the tires may spin even with wife added. But, 95% of time, they work for me without wife. I don't get stuck too often. Backing up with the snowblower on a layer of ice doesn't work. Need to plan how to move without getting stuck. Some of the cross bars are delaminating, not shredded yet.

While searching videos today, I found this one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxSLoCxDOOg it looks to me that he has them. Granted he has no weights and driving style may be in question, but I see a whole lotta slippage here. Even when my 147 had no weight I wouldn't slip like this with normal chains. I ain't sold on 'em and wouldn't waste the time/$$$$ IMO.

I have no first hand experience with them but someone I know has them and he says they don't work very well and ride rough.

Chains with V bars for me. Nothing like ice with wet snow on top that needs to be plowed. It was almost standard when I lived in CT, rain turning to snow, or snow turning to rain. Put that on a nice steep curvy driveway and you have all the fun you can stand.

Got snow on top of ice this season already. No way I was pushing any of it w/o chains.

I have no doubt that chains work better than these particularly on ice, however I primarily want to get this to plow my mother's driveway. It faces away from the morning sun, is downhill and 200 ft long. She has a walk-behind snow blower but it takes forever and the driveway was just repaved last summer. Don't want to ding it all up with tire chains. If it's indeed that icy out, she's not going anywhere anyway.
Good to hear only need a rear set, I was prepared to buy all 4. Amazon reviews for the size I need show mostly very positive reviews- the 2 negative ones have to do with fitment, rather than performance. Worst case, if they really don't work well, I'll resell them or add them to my ever growing collection of spare parts https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009SMP768...I1EGZXDSJJZVG1 |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
