another tire related question
Great pics guys! Thanks.
This is the style of tire I'm using now, size 8.50, and I have a set of chains to fit them. If I'd get ags in this size, would my chains still fit, or do the bar lugs make them too tight? What about when pushing snow... on average "non-icy" snow, how well do ags do without chains? I'd guess fairly well, until getting on ice. Thx. JP |

I agree with Wild Bill..My AG's sit it out for the winter and I use the 8.50's that are loaded all winter. I swap the front AG's to make the open end of the V toward the front for improved steering...

Nice pics Bill, thanks. I think that could be my plan too. Get the wide 10.50 ags for summer, and leave the 8.50 turfs chained up and swap them out for winter.

Got my ags today. I got the 10.50 Deestones. Got them mounted up already, at $5 each plus tax. Just put them on, during the heatwave, and my wheel weights. I just climbed the fairly steep bank in my back yard at dusk and didn't spin one bit, and the grass was even a little damp.
Will try to get a pic tomorrow. Looks pretty good. Thx again for all the pics and suggestions. Josh P |

Can't wait to see. I really like the Deestones on my 782, I think you will be very happy with those.

Just picked up a set of the Carlisle Tru-Power 10.50's that will go on something! I just like the looks of those big fat gummies
I currently run chains on turf tires on the (B word tractor) for plowing snow. Regards, Chris

I really like the narrower Deestones for plowing. They sit down in the furrow real nice. Especially when you're following someone that isn't making a very good furrow. The wider tires don't ride down in them that good.

Finally got some pics of the new Deestone tires on my 1000. Wanted to get some out by the garden, but an evening storm rolled through, a welcome break from the 99 degrees it was earlier.
I did try them out briefly, and there is zero spinning on a fairly steep slope I have, and no bad marks in the yard. At this point, I'm not even going to bother with the extra expense of washer fluid. Got a good deal and am puttin' major torque to the turf. Thx for helpin' me decide, guys. JP The handy wheel weight changing tool makes changing these 62 pounders a breeze, whenever I want to swap narrow / wide rims. I'll keep my chained turfs on the narrow rims for plowing on snow, ice, and maybe plowing dirt someday. Interesting point above about the narrow tire riding in the furrow. I learn something new every day on OCC. |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
