Default Walbro carb identification

Ok have a 1450 and has been running but I decided to see if I could rebuild the carb on it. Pulled it off took to local Cub dealer to get a rebuild kit and it has numbers on it that they could not trace.

Carb is marked 4703586 on one side of the flange and 71 1122 on the other side of the flange. The carburetor cross reference manual does list a 4705386 but no 4703586, but it shows on the 241-301 series and not the 321. Could the carb have been marked incorrectly, is this a China copy, or is there something else I am missing?

I believe the engine was replaced in the tractor before I acquired it, and cannot find any markings on it, except for this serial number 7541500.

Tractor Serial number is 2050660U626963

Pictures are attached of carb and SN of engine.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

The 1450, rolled out of the Factory with a Kohler K321AQS-60291 Engine in it. That engine had a Carter/Kohler Carb, being: KH-47-053-09, which was an adjustable Carb.

The KH-47-053-86 is a Walbro, fixed Jet Carb. That would indicate, that this carb was changed at one time, to this Walbro model.

That chassis S/N: 626963 indicates it is a 1978 model.

The engine S/N: 75-41500 indicates that engine was built in 1976.

Thanks for the quick response and the wealth of information.

So, the carb is rebuildable with the kit defined, that's great news.

Only follow up question is, is it worth rebuilding or should I try and find a suitable adjustable carb replacement?

As the new ones, if you can find one, are quite expensive but perhaps worth it, I was wondering if there are any aftermarket carbs available that anyone has any experience with?

In My Opinion..........I would look for the original Carter/Kohler original.

Second choice, would be to clean & install a new Carb Kit in the one you have.

Don't mess with the fixed jet Walbro. Locate an original adjustable carb, and your engine will thank you.

Default Looking for a Adjustable carb

Ok so I just dropped off the K321 at the motor shop to have it rebuilt and now am trying to find an adjustable jet carburetor for it per our earlier discussions.

My question is in regards to the Carburetor reference manual page 1.3.
We determined that my original engine came with a 47-053-09 adjustable carburetor, does that mean I need to find exactly that carburetor or will any of the adjustable carburetors listed in the K321 section work on my 1450?

Just trying to make sure I find the right replacement so she works like she's supposed to once we get her all back together.

Currently has a Walbro 47-053-86 on it but that's listed on the K241/K301 engines. It runs seemingly ok but since this is my first 1450, its my only point of reference.

Thanks in advance

If you want a drop in replacement (plug & play) then yes. If you are willing to fabricate and/or modify, then no.

Ahh, I think I get it,
the fabrication comes from modifications to the linkages. So any carb listed under the K321 engine would have the same internal workings and work with the engine as it should.
Just may need to adjust linkages or change out throttle shaft, etc.

Thanks R Bedell

Now off to try and find an original Kohler carb.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
