Sounds good, I don't paint for a living anymore but I work at a bodyshop and still know what I am doing for the most part. LOL. If you need any advice or anything, let me know.

Made further progress over the Labor Day weekend. Got the frame, hood, side panels and fenders all stripped. Used a combination of twisted wire wheel, twisted wire cup brush and flap sanding disc on the 4" angle grinder, along with an orbital sander (#80 and #120 grit). Makes a huge mess, but hey, what doesn't?

Have a structural question for y'all: Does the crack in the front aluminum frame need to be welded, or can I JB Weld it? Appears the PO ran into some immovable object and cracked the frame/nose. The crack is only on the top molded piece (as shown). It doesn't run all the way down to the lower piece.

Hope to shoot primer this weekend. We'll see...

I would weld it. I've welded up a couple of 82 grills and turned out nice. I would guess they used a similar material.

I believe the front frame to be aluminum, therefore, I cannot weld it at home (MIG). If it needs welding, I'll need to take it to a welder.

Yeah you have to tig it but I think you should because that crack got all the way to the edge. I think it will continue if you don't weld it. Just my 2C

Took the front frame to have it welded and got it back. Ground off the weld and all is good. The weather was beautiful over the weekend, so got all the major pieces primed. Next weekend is forecast for the same nice conditions, so hope to shoot some red paint then.

My NOS hour meter also arrived Saturday!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
