Are there vendors that can still source this part?

Where could I buy a spacer? I don’t think I’ll have much luck finding a driveshaft from a 2084 or 2284 as they are sought after machines.

Here’s a better angle of the the connection in place now.

Thnk you for you me input!
If yo are going to weld it be sure and place the ground clamp on the part you are welding it self, or you will ruin the needle bearings on trunnion shaft and possibly the entire hydro!

Water pump to fan spacer for older chevy/ford motor. They come in all different thicknesses available at NAPA, Jeg's, Summit... Use locktite on the bolts! I have done this before when converting from a magnum to a command with no issues. You can convert to a cv shaft although even with used parts you will drop $$$ in all the parts needed (cv's, shaft, fan, bolts, and hydro flange). You will also have to drill/tap the hydro input shaft for flange retaining bolt with cv conversion.

If it was my tractor I would call the sponsors at the top of the page and see if they have a 2084 or 2284 complete drive shaft. You can have Jeff make you a new longer shaft. He could make you a spacer.

I would not run that engine anymore as it is ready to create more problems for you.

Here is another alternative from Midwest Super Cub. It is the drive adapter for a Kohler Command installed in a Cub. Less than $40 and your done!

Done deal. I like simple. Do I keep those rubber spacers in there?

Here’s my trunnion issue. As you can see, every part of it is worn. Might be better to replace with new? If available of course. Also, I was going to drop the transaxle to work on the trunnion just for ease of access but one hydraulic line isn’t having it.

I tried uploadinf a video but it wouldn’t let me.

Yes, this replaces the hub presently bolted on the engine flywheel and the flange with the bushing in it bolts to this. I want to mention this engine was never in production of that model tractor. With that said, hopefully the person that installed the engine slid it back far enough when they re-drilled and mounted the engine. You are dealing with a fuel tank in your tractor where as a battery was mounted in the later tractors with a command. You may have to re-drill and slide the engine back a little bit if this spacer is not wide enough.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
