Default Log puller

I used the 1250 to pull this big log to a spot in the yard. I put reflective house numbers on the log and turned it up on it's side.

White out!
No, I just "painted" over the number on the picture before I posted it.

So yesterday I wanted to cut the back yard with one of the 129's. I had already cut the front with the 1211 and figured give each tractor some use. I started up the 129 and happened to notice the amp meter acting erratically.

A couple of quick tests showed I was not charging and the S/G was good. I removed the V/R and opened it up to find the feed to coil was burned in the middle and broken.

This is the first time I have seen one do this. I soldered the wire back together and tested the continuity. Replaced the V/R and its now charging fine. I shut the tractor off for a few min to tighten everything up. Went to restart and it would not start. No spark. I checked everything out and found the coil took a crap. I had the battery disconnected while the V/R was out and don't think I shorted anything. I put a another coil on it and everything was fine after that.. Maybe just a fluke I guess.

Anyway, Point of the story is maybe not a bad idea to pop open the V/R's and have a look before buying a new one. I will however order a new one and keep the repaired one as a back up.

The repair is not great.. Only had some solder that was thicker than I really wanted to use. Ugly but it works!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
