Angry Gas tank leakage

Well, I have figured out that the gas tank is now leaking a pretty fair amount on the 123. My bud said he'd fix it for $10. Is that a fair price or can I get a kit for cheaper? I need to fix this before I continue working on 123. Thanks, Kyle.

If he knows what he's doing, $10 is more than fair! I know a guy (me) who tried to solder one a few years ago and it still had fumes in it. It blew!! Fortunately, I was standing off to the side when it went past at crotch height about 100 MPH. Ya, 10 bucks is cheap!!

I have a fuel tank leaking on my generator and was thinking about putting some JB water weld on it.

He has fixed a few of his simplicity tractors gas tanks. So if its a good deal I think I will let him do it. I also think he uses the water weld stuff. I don't know forsure though. And Aroostook, it's a good thing you were away from there. Now you know how to make a rocket lol

I have brazed metal gas tanks. Wash it out, soap and water. Then wash it out again, and again.

FWIW JB Weld doesn't seem gas resistant in my opinion. I have had to fix 3 tanks with leaky JB Weld repairs.

Brazing is your best bet, JB will not work very long.

I guess it depends on where the leak is... I've never had to fix a leak that wasn't in a solder joint, and for those I always just re-solder them.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
