Ok, I have to write this just so I feel better. My 127, which typically runs like a top, starts to run for 5-6 min then sputters & dies. No smoking, bad noises etc. So, I work on it. 1st clean fuel bowl. same problem. Next, replace fuel line. Then, disassemble & rebuild carb. Next, new plug AC. New points & timing. Next condenser & coil (Had them anyway). Next, out of desperation new regulator (had it anyway). Pulled off head, valves & piston good, very little carbon. Now I'm crazed. I figure I'll drain gas, (Even though it's new & I use Marvel Mystery Oil). Unscrew nipple between Tank & fuel bowl. Yup, you guessed it. Nipple plugged w/gook. Cleaned it out. Tractor runs like it's brand new.

Chalk me up in the book of idiots!

Mike

Sounds like myself when I'm stumped....trial and error. At least you now know all of the parts you changed out work. Just think if you went and bought all of these parts and then found the clog in the tank. You also now know where to look the next time. I try to do the simple, least expensive things first and work from there. I take the shut-off valve out of the tank routinely now when doing a major type tune-up/fix.

Good luck and nice fix....Wayne

I would"nt call you an Idiot.
You found the problem and fixed it without having to take it to someone else. Just because it was the last thing you checked you still figured out yourself
And besides that... Your tune up is now done :biggrin2.gif:

Always check :
1.Fuel to carb
2.spark
Then go from there in to specifics of each...closer and closer to the combustion chamber.

I wouldn't call you an idiot...you did fix it in a long, round about way.

I'll just say: Dope! :biggrin2.gif:

I would say that if you got it fixed and maybe learned a little something then you're doing pretty good.

I would have suggested a bad coil...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
