On all those cables, try spraying some "PB Blaster" from just about any auto parts store. I know Autozone carries it. Spray it on, wait an hour or so, spray some more, wait, then start trying to move it. If that doesn't break it loose, you'll be far better off just buying new cables. I've had better luck with PB Blaster than anything else, including WD-40.

147R engine build update
I will try to pry some pictures off the camera tonight.
Anyway, the current status is that the engine is coming together nicely! - Head and block checked for flatness. - Head plastic bead blasted. - All gasket surfaces cleaned on block. - New governer gear and cross shaft in place. - Cam shaft re installed and checked end clerance. - Main crank bearings cleaned oiled and in place. - Crank installed and timed with Cam shaft gear. - Bearing plate shimmed to allow .008 clearance end play on the crank. - Piston rings checked for end gap right at .020. - Rod marked and installed into piston on wrist pin and snap rings in place - Rings installed on piston. - Piston installed in block using ring compressor. - Rod End cap aligned with oil hole towards cam shaft and torqure to 300 inch lb loosened and retorqued to 280 in/lb. - Straub beer consumed to celebrate I did not take many pictures like Dave does! Thinking of painting the block flat black high temp. What do you think? Regards, Chris

some updates I owed you guys!
Jeff,
Check this out its going to be different! Some shots as I assembled the K321 and the clutch assembly over the last few days. Sorry I just don't have time to work on cubs and load the pictures too Hope this helps some one! Engine is complete as far as all internals. Valves are adjusted. Oil seals are in place. Yea Gracie had to get in on the action too! I learned a lot on this engine. It has been about 15 years since I rebuilt a 10 Hp Kohler. I learned some things not to do also! Like be very very careful when chasing the threads in the block for the head bolts! Stop when you feel the slights resistance! I cracked a fin on the block Not sure what this will look like with red tins, and covers, on a slate gray block? The compression release had me a little baffled for a minute or two. I decided to remove the stock exhaust turn down pipe Took a little hot wrench work to get it loose. I could put it back on later, but I think the exhaust will be a vertical, short, stainless, hand built stack coming off the head with 1 inch stainless pipe fittings. Yes its getting to be more like the resto-mod that others have mentioned on their Cub projects. Man I hope this thing will run. I am getting a little punchy like Dave and need some support! Regards, Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
