I have it's twin brother in GA... only diff I see is the first three digits of mine are 143 (built in '83) yours is 144 (built in '84) Mine has the cast iron IH rear... I think yours may have the MTD built aluminum rear axle. Congrats on owning a rare yellow 982 (986)!! keep us posted!!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester.
