As you can see the drain plug magnet was working overtime, so I am going to flush the system out, then refill and probably swap and drain fluid two more times this season.

Metal shavings

I got the looking on the 2140 and see that it is an AGS machine(Auto Gear System). Before you dump the Rotella in there let's make sure it won't damage the clutch system. I'll do some more checking. That was the weak link in these tractors with the AGS drive system, people used the foot pedal like a hydro and it would damage the clutches. You're supposed to select the gear and hold the foot pedal down all the way.

Ain't it fun to tear stuff apart, looks good.

Yeah, I am full aware of that issue with the AGS, pretty much don't hear a good thing about it. I have always used it properly, but I know my father thought it was a hydro and would just slam the gears, which is why it was serviced multiple times. Inside looks really clean actually minus the metal on the drain plug.

The Cub Cade Drive System Oil is a Hydrolic - Transmission oil so I was actually now leaning towards running HyTran through it versus Rotella.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
