Default "barn find" one owner 149.....

A few weeks back while on a job, me and this old fella get to talking about tractors, and I tell him how im kind of fond of the old cubs... he walks me down to his garage and shows me this....

of course the first words out of my mouth are "what do you want for it?" and he calmly says "it isn't for sale" and I told him "Every thing has a price... whats yours?"

after some intense negotiations..... a value was determined! (im not saying how much it was, dont ask... lol)

This old timer was the original owner, and it has sat in this garage untouched for a number of years now.

nothing missing... nothing broken... nothing modified..... never ever any kind of paint work done on it... its had one rear tire replaced and that looks to be it !

im starting to accumulate a yard full of 149s !!

I'm pretty excited about it. I'm not sure what the future holds for it yet, but i'm thinking full on resto at some point. I don't even want to use it !

Nice find on the 149 and tiller! Congrats! The paint doesn't look too bad. I'd clean her up and see if the paint will shine some and leave her original. I love the cubs with original paint and patina on 'em. Sweet find!

Niiice! I have 2 149s, both with updated paint. In my humble opinion, leave her in her work clothes!

Great find.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
