Are You Going To Try Organic Fertilizer In 2013??

This is my fourth year using mostly organic fertilizer. It is a little more expensive, but, I happen to have a "surplus outlet" that gets broken or ripped bags of such products, so I pay about half of the "big box" pricing.

I started out using the Plant-Tone fertilizer.

The last two years I have been using the Milorganite fertilizers also.

I have been getting great results. My favorite aspect of these products is they are rather goof proof in that is seems like you can not kill the plants by over-fertilizing.

I have not "stuck" with a specific one, because getting them from the surplus outlet, you kind of have to use "what they got" when you show up!!

When available, I have also purchased Tree-Tone, Bulb-Tone, Holly-tone,,, etc,,, whatever they got in stock that day.

I am not an organic nut, I just feel I get better results from this type product.

The main thing I like about these products is that they do not harm the bacteria and earthworms in the soil. I think those two are responsible for making the organic matter like compost and plowed in plant waste available as food for the plants in your garden.

Actually, 10-10-10 fertilizer is listed as a pesticide, able to kill insects and worms in the soil. If the plants need a quick "pick me up" I might use one of the water soluble fertilizers such as Miracle Grow as a foliar spray.

What are your thoughts on organic fertilizers??

I used millorganite for the first time last summer, best results I ever got from using fertilizer. Takes longer for it to start working, but it lasted 3 times longer than the Scott's fertilizer i've used. Won't burn the grass, and it's supposed to keep deer away. I have some burning bushes that deer like to chomp on, i'll find out this spring if it really does keep them away. I'm trying to get some blue birds to nest in a bird house too, supposed to use organic fertilizer if they're in your yard.

Cad, I'm a lazy old F--T, I just go to TSC and get the cheap CHEM crap they have on sale, spread it on the lawn at double the suggested rate and then sit back and enjoy the grass going up in smoke. Saves lots of seat time not having to mow burnt grass. LOL. Why wear out a Super cutting grass?

I don't abuse my Super mowing grass!! Anything can cut grass!
