2182 fender removal question
I either cant turn a wrench worth a darn anymore, or, it's darn near impossible to take the fenders off and leave the fuel tank in place.
My problem, the two rear allen head bolts holding the seat track down. Unless I bend up a long end wrench, I dont know how I am going to get on them, and, if I did, I would never get them back in ! Looks like the fuel tank will come out with the fender ? There are inner facing C channel pieces between the frame and the saddle plate that the tank rest on. I think I will have to remove the C channels from the frame and take it all up as a unit. I am just changing the fuel pump and filter, so, I may try to do it in place. A few welded in place nuts would sure be nice !!! Let me know if you have experience with this. thanks, John |

You need to remove the 4 Allen head bolts in the seat tracks and the 4 that attach the foot boards to the fender pan.
Should be plenty of pics if you look through these threads. http://www.onlycubcadets.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=33244 I use the proper size Allen wrench that fits a 3/8" drive ratchet and a box wrench. Pull the tires and you can get at the nuts under the fender with no problem. Edit: Forgot to mention that the 2 in the rear of the seat track you only need the Allen wrench, the nuts are welded to the seat bracket. The 2 in the front you'll need the box wrench to hole the nuts.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
