Default 125 with 48in deck question

Got a pulley question on my 48in deck. I’ve been mowing all summer with the 125. Working all the bugs out, the one problem I’m having is it leaves a tiny strip of grass on the right side (discharge side). Also the mower belt seems like it vibrates a lot when mowing.
I got it from my brother in law who mowed a double lot in town for about 10 years. Said he put a new spindle in it last year (can’t remember which one). Went through the whole tractor, but didn’t have to do that much to the deck. Put new blades on it , and a different tension pulley spring. Anywho... took the guards off today so I could watch for anything while I mowed. I noticed the right and left side pulley are different sizes one is 3 3/4 the other is 4 1/2... this can’t be right can it?? Question is , I can’t find any info on the correct size. I’m thinking the 4 1/2 is correct? Dad has a 42in deck in the barn off 104, can I “ borrow” spindle and pulley off it if I had to?

How are the baffles in it? Got a pic of the blade side?

I believe my 48” has the same smaller pulley on the right spindle. I think it was designed that way so the right blade spins faster to throw the clippings out and to help that blade cut better since it has to deal with the extra clippings from the other two blades.

Early ones, +63-68 https://www.cubcadet.com/equipment/A...0-A/0075600003 had the same on both sides.

Later ones, '68-'71 & '71-'73 https://www.cubcadet.com/equipment/A...0-A/0075600005

And https://www.cubcadet.com/equipment/A...0-A/0075600007

Had the smaller one on one end
Seems I recall reading about this in a manual or maybe it was a brochure once.

Baffles are fine. It doesn’t leave a strip of un cut grass, just a strip of slightly taller grass. It’s not something I can’t live with, the vibrating belt bothers me more. I wonder if a new tension spring would help, instead of a used one...

Maybe your deck needs to be leveled better.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
