Default Source for new wheels and turfs for 149?

I've been away from the tractor for a few years since I restored it. My father is going to use it to cut his grass in a few months as they have moved to a larger property.

The tractors is currently on ags/wheel weights and tri-ribs. I'd like to save those and buy a new set of wheels and turfs for grass.

Who makes new wheels that will fit a 149? What size do I want to get the fattest turfs that will fit (and what sizes should I get?)

The tires you have on it are fine to cut grass with. No, they will not tear up the yard.

What you buy depends on what you want. Several different tire size choices for a 149. What sizes are on it currently?

I'd leave it as is though....

I put new firestone tri-rib 16x6.50x8 on the fronts
Rears are 23x8.5 carlisle tru-powers with weights.

It'll be 1.5 acres in Florida so it's mostly sandy. I'm worried the tri-ribs will carve up the ground. They sure tore up my yard when it was wet in Virginia.

Try the Miller Tire Company

The widest tire for the rear was the 23-10.50x12 and 16-6.50x8 for the fronts.

IF you are looking for an extra set of rims, try the sponsors at the top of the page.

I've seen a 169 running 24-12x12 Turf savers and 16-7.50x8 Turf masters, they seemed to fit fine.

That would be a Non Cub Cadet modification.

It's been my understanding (though I've never tried it myself) that 24-12x12 tires will fit but just barely and, in some cases, by shimming up the fenders a bit.

I am in Florida too, my 4 acres is fine sand also.
I only have native, natural green field grass slowly turning into a lawn.
Which was an overgrown unmaintained field 18 months ago.
I have to run what they call "sand blades" on the deck to cut down on the sand storm created by high lift blades. I figure it will be three years before it will fill in and I can go back to regular blades.
Anything but turfs front and back does damage to bare spots. I am running the smooth ribbed wide fronts, and the O.E.M. Firestone "snow tire" style 23x8.5 rears.

If your Dad's place has nice thick established lawn, I would run what you have now before buying new tires and rims. Then decide.

But if it is newly created, seeded yard or like mine above with bare spots then you might want to go with different tires.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
