Default Need help to ID a Cub Cadet from pictures

I am interested in a cub about 2 hours from me here in E. KY Mountains, but guy doesnt know what it is, he could find no tags, except for mowing deck. I like it because it has a few attachments, but not sure if it ould suit me. I suppose i need an engine with pressurized oil for running on inclines. I would appreciate help with identifying this model, so i can learn more about it without a four hr trip. He did send me some pics. Here goes.

It could be a 109, 129 or a 149.

If it is a 109 or a 129 it had the hydraulic lift added.

It is missing the rear lights and light switch if it is a 149 so I'm thinking it is one of the other 2 above.

My guess is 129. Ask the guy if it ever has a red stripe on the hood. Look for a tag on the rear.

If it's an early 1x9 tractor the tag will be on the rearend but you would have to remove the tiller gearbox to be able to see it.

According to Oscar Will's 50 Years of Cub Cadet, hydro lift was an option for the 109 & 129, standard on the 149. We do see hydro lift here, but headlights and taillights were standard on the 149, optional on 109 & 129. No lights here so ask what motor, K241=109, K301=129.

But back to your concern about pressurized lube, none here no matter what model it is.

I think the engine is not original to the tractor, it looks like it has a high boss head on it
to me. So it may only have a 10 or a 12hp in it.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
