Looks great Beth!

What are the black stripe looking things on the grille housing?

Thanks Jonathan. The black stripes are pieces of electrical tape to prevent scratching by the hood when it is opened. Awhile back someone built a nice hood stop that prevents the hood from hitting the grill casting. I need to find that thread and make that bracket.

Well.... that's a smart idea.

Yeah, I remember that thread! If you find it, post a link back up to that thread. That was a really nice hood stop if I remember correctly. Easy to make, and looked like something that could have been original. Good thinking.

There was another hood stop that was held by the hood hinge bolts and was not visible from the outside. I liked that one better.

That's the one she linked to. Unless you're thinking of a different one?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
