Default Cub 782, Magnum 18 transplant

I just finished installing a M18 out of a 1811 into my 782.
I only have one problem. The wiring harness from the stator on left side of the engine is different on the M18 then on the KT17. I know the white is coming the engine coil is the kill wire. There is a green and black wires also, on the wire harness on the 782 frame there is a purple and white wires. What ones do I hook together? Green to white or purple, Black to green or Purple?

The 782 had two different Wiring configurations, depending on the Chassis Serial.

When installing a Magnum into a 82 Series tractor, there is one of two Electrical Modifications that needs to be done.

So, first, what is your tractor's chassis serial number...???

This is how most Kohlers are wired.

make sure you don't put 12 volts to the mag. coil or you'll fry it

Default 782 transplant

Ronald, the 782 I am working with is SN.205 0585 U 704959
I was tired when I posted the first thread. The color of wires I am working with are purple and gray not white, on the engine green and black, the white wire is the coil kill wire.
I plan on using a push button switch for the engine kill.
Thanks for your help.

Use a relay for the kill wire. You can hook up a relay so that when it's getting positive from the key it is open and the when you turn the key off the relay will close and ground out the coil.

I remember someone on here posted a simple schematic to wire up a relay.
I believe it was Roland, but not sure.
It is nice to have it stop, with the turn of the key, especially for multiple operators.
It is really not difficult to do.

Default Cub 782, Magnum transplant

First I would like to thank the members who helped me with my M18 project.
The wiring turned to be easy with your help.
The engine runs good, PTO works great and charging system is working.

I got the M18 out of a 1811. The PO really did some hacks to this poor cub.
I got the 1811 at a auction last fall for $280. My intent was to use it but as I look it over it was not worth fixing. One of my 782s needed a engine and this worked out pretty good. This 782 is my garden tilling tractor and spring is here.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
