Cool Quiet Line Brake Pedal Spring Location

Hello ! So I recently found an absolute amazing condition model 1650! Strong K341, and boy is it a pounder. So,.....

Serial number: 2050670u6549. Its a very late model. My question is, at what Serial number did the manufacturer change the brake pedal return spring location?

All the QL's I've owned all had the 90* angle bracket welded on the right inside of the frame (sitting in the seat) . My "new" 1650 has a long spring on the left side at the pedal and routs back to the front "Z" transmission mount bracket. My 1650 has internal brake pucks.

Thanks!

There are six (6) digits after the "U".

These images may help.

The parts breakdown doesn’t show a serial number. It says 2 springs were used. A long and a short. My 1250 609462 has the long one. That’s May of 1977.

Ahhh, I see how the spring attatches to the brake rod, via the little tab! Thank you!

Yes, lol, here's the whole serial number...seems i forgot some digits .

My 1650, I noticed, has the aluminum rear axel carriers, aluminum upper and lower grill housings, and 1" front wheel spindles.

My 1650 only has the long spring, apparently. This is my first 16hp single cylinder and its a little "more", lol, than the 4's I have been use to. Shakes like nothing I seen. Probably gonna go with steel engine mounts in the near future.

On My 782 they used a longer bolt through the fame on that little transmission brace. Then a lock nut but left only threaded on enough to lock. Then it hooks on there instead of just hooking on the brace.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
