Default CC 679cc EFI OHV Running Rich

I have a XT2 LX46 EFI FAV with only 79 hours on it. Only run non-Ethanol fuel in it.

Over the summer it started running rough. I found the plugs were dry, black soot covered. I cleaned and checked the gaps and in ran better. Started running rough again before winter, cleaned them again. While pushing snow yesterday and loaded it down pretty good it stumbled, chugged, backfired and belched black smoke for the 1st time. I made it through the plowing and once again they were sooty.

I also noticed more of a gas smell through the exhaust, more running rich signs. It also seems to lag when I increased or decreased the throttle. It didn't snap to full power when pushing it to full, not drop to idle when done working before turning off.

Air filter was cleaned at end of summer.

Ideas please before I have to pay the dealer to come pick it up for warranty repairs?

Thank you Roland.

If it's something simple I'd rather fix/adjust it myself and avoid a $100 pickup/deliver fee. Plus I'm not sure yet how backed up they may be after all of the recent snow.

Plus others may experience the same issue and not be under warranty.

So what dealers offer 20 mile free pickup/delivery? I've never had a car dealer do it either.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
