Default 2182 snow blower troubles

hi folks,

I am real bad with this tool. I hope to find a answer to my adjust belt pulley. When blowing snow, it scrapes the ground. I have been shorting the belt each time, but have not corrected this. When the belt is not slipping, it blows snow well. I had a new XT3 GSX, and this is close to the same distance for snow throwing. I like the hydraulic steering much better on the 2182. The 3 cyl. has good torque and I don't miss the locker differential. On the XT3, as the 2182, has beet juice in new rubber, and chains on. The 45 in. blower is a narrow path after using a 48", but I feel side wings will help. I have read, all I found so far as to mounts etc. I know I am missing something. Any help or thoughts will help. I am 73 years old and have worked as a millwright welder mechanic a lifetime, and am still learning.

Thanks Jim

Hi Jim, and Welcome.
I just saw your post. Not sure which Model blower you have on your 2182, but here's a link to the 451 instructions. The 450, 451, and 551 all mount the same and the 450 instructions are not as good/clear as the 451. I have not yet mounted my 451 on my 2182 but I'll take a stab at your problem.
First, do you have all the right parts to mount the thrower on your super? The supers require a few different/extra parts than for a regular Cub. Page 7 shows the carriage bracket extension kit (figure 3) used on the supers. On page 11 it shows which hole to use on the lift arm for the super. Make sure you are using the Hydraulic lift arm bracket. Pages 17&18 has good info for you. I'm sure I'm forgetting some things, hopefully some one else will chime in
with some help for you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
