Default O questions

An O popped up on FB near my place so I went and checked it out.

I have a few questions. This one has a serial #15555 which makes it a September 1961 build. It does not have the slot in the tower or the creepy hole. When did they add those? This one has the wrong steering wheel, seat, S/G bracket and is missing the bottom of the air cleaner. I believe it is the correct K161 with a serial# 56xxxxx and it ran pretty good too + I didn't see any cracks in the frame. This is the first tractor I went and looked at and it didn't follow me home. What would be a good price for it?

And the price is ??? Does it have collared steering spindles? They went with the newer style s/g bracket after a certain serial number but I do not have that info.

Asking price is $300 but he will take $250.
No collard spindles and the S/G bracket is not the early style like the one on my #994 I sold but looks homemade and not painted.

Well my pull start has no cutouts like that one, ser# 19812. It has collared spindles but I think I put them on there.

250.00 is not a bad price, that is what I paid for this one.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
