Default K582 on Original??

I have a kohler K582 that I am contemplating putting on my Original? My K181 is trashed and would need a complete overhaul to run again..
Heres my questions..
-What problems will I run into by putting this large of a motor on my tractor?
Im not to worried about any light fab work as I can complete that my self..
-Has anyone ever done a swap like this before??

As always, any help is greatly appreciated!
(sorry for the repost, my info was lost in the transition to the new site)

Johnson_John1982:

First, we apologize if your post got lost in the shuffle.

The CCO frame is a unique NF. It is only to that model.

I have seen multi-cylinder motors in CCO's as well as other Cub Models.
Anything is possible, with a cutting torch, welder, and fabricating skills.

If this is a project that you want to do, go for it.

Keep us posted with pictures on the steps of your progress.

Ive been told that I may have problems with belt slippage and the clutch.
Do you know of any members who have done a swap similar to this that I could go to for advice?
Im not wanting to do anything to the tractor that cant be "undone" Id love to just find another 171 or 181 to put back on there. The only reason I mentioned the 582 is because I have one thats just sitting around.

Mien cub over on the unofficial homepage from about 5 or 6 years ago. It was unique.
John, I just helped a guy rebuild a k-301, Found the cheapest place for gaskets and piston was the place that did the machine work. mabey that was a fluke but it'd be worth looking into.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
