The 149 went to a new home yesterday
We sold the 1973 Cub 149 yesterday to a new to the Cub family here in north Texas. This is the tractor my father-in-law purchased in 1977 to mow and plow snow at his gas station in a small Missouri town. He passed in 1992 and we finally brought it to Texas in 2013. It was our first of several cubs. Hated to see it go, but getting older and it is time to start letting someone else enjoy some of my toys.

I applaud your attitude of " letting someone else enjoy some of your toys".
Gives me something to ponder for sure. Ken |

I really hated to do it, but I am almost 79 and still in great health, but know I need to slowly get rid of some stuff to make it easier for others later. I still have enough things to play with.

selling 149
I am a few years older than 79 and I know what you mean, but it is really hard to let your toys go. I have 3 149's and an 1872 plus a few attachments. I know they should go to another home but letting them go is difficult. They help to keep me going. Have a great day.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
